1961

Perched atop Clementi Hill, Masjid Tentera Di Raja holds a rich history rooted in Singapore’s early days. Built in 1961 by Muslim servicemen of the British Army, the mosque was named "Tentera Diraja" or "Royal Army Mosque" to honour their contributions.

1962

Officially opened on 30 March 1962 by Tun Haji Yusof Bin Ishak, Singapore’s first Head of State, the ceremony included a unique review of a Guard of Honour by Muslim servicemen, reflecting the mosque’s deep ties to its origins.

2000s

Located near Clementi Woods and the National University of Singapore (NUS), it now serves a diverse congregation, including workers from Pasir Panjang port, NUS students, and local residents.

In 2004, the Mosque underwent a minor A&A to increase its capacity for congregants. The A&A works were completed in September 2005 with an estimated cost of $ 350,000 derived from public donations. As a result, the Mosque managed to increase its capacity by 1000 congregants, more than double its initial capacity.

Today

Today, Masjid Tentera Diraja is more than a place of worship—it is a hub of spirituality, inclusivity, and transformation. From dakwah programs and youth initiatives to its signature Mudik Kehulu tattoo removal service, the mosque fosters growth and connection within a warm, "kampong"-style atmosphere.

Our story continues as Masjid Tentera Di Raja remains a sanctuary of faith, community, and heritage for generations to come.
